What can we say about Nicholas and Impressions San Diego…he was phenomenal. It must have been fate that led us to him to DJ our wedding and I’ll explain why. We live in Chicago but got married in San Diego. We were nervous booking anyone for anything because of the distance but Nicholas planned a zoom call for us and that put our minds at ease. Sometimes it’s just better to see who you’re talking to, especially when we couldn’t do a formal sit down meeting. Nicholas was wearing a Grogu/Mandalorian shirt and I knew he was our guy. Literally minutes before my fiancé and I decided we wanted to have all Star Wars music for the ceremony. As soon as we started talking we all got excited about what we were planning. When we got off our call we looked at each other and said “He’s the guy”. Once we decided, Nicholas got us set up on his website and walked us through everything we needed to complete for him. Fast forward a year, he never once hounded us for the completion of our info and let us take our time. Once we were set, he scheduled another meeting for us, and went through every song we wanted for the ceremony and reception and how he would time everything out just perfectly for us. We could hear how excited he was to be planning and to be a part of such a special day for us. On our big day, Nicholas greeted us with a huge smile and excitement for our wedding, that put our minds at ease as one less thing to worry about. The ceremony and reception went off without a hitch. He made sure we knew he was there to take care of us and let him know if we needed anything at all. He even took some pictures for us and sent them the next day so we had a different perspective than our own photographer.

All night long our guests were coming up to us saying how awesome our DJ was…including my husband's kids who are in their late teens/early 20s, when the music is all that matters haha. We couldn’t have been more pleased with Nicholas and all the hard work he put in to make sure we had the best “Star Wars'' wedding ever! It’s a night that my husband and I will never forget and we are so thankful Nicholas was there alongside us. I would highly recommend his services for ANY event and wish we lived out there so we could utilize him again in the future.

I want to start this review by saying Nicholas and Impressions San Diego truly saved our wedding day. We were initially contracted with another company for both our DJ and Photographer, but two months before our wedding, the company dissolved and took all of the money we paid towards those vendors. We were desperate, to say the least. With all that money lost and with so little time to pull the trigger on another DJ and photographer, we didn’t know if we were going to pull it off. Then, came Nicholas. Within our first phone call with him, he not only sympathized with us because of our situation and put our minds at ease, but also put together an entire game plan for us. He found a way to be there for us on our day, meeting our every need, while also staying within our budget. We were overwhelmed with his generosity and enthusiasm.

Fast forward to our wedding day. Nicholas showed up 4 hours early to ensure his multiple areas of set up were all ready to go. I (bride) took a few minutes to walk the property to see how the set up was coming along, and Nicholas immediately met me with a hug. Even though I had never met this man before and he was (at the time) just another vendor I hired, he met me with kindness, calmness, and assurance that everything was going to go perfectly. That’s something money can’t buy. Throughout the night, Nicholas continued those acts of kindness and calmness whether that was by doing little check ins with my husband and I and our families or running to get us warm food after ours had gotten cold. During all the speeches and other small events throughout the night, he spoke just enough and not too much, which can be a hard thing to do. He filled any gaps there were with humor and smooth transitions. Needless to say, we had an INCREDIBLE party.

Now, let’s talk about post wedding day. Nicholas stayed for HOURS after the wedding helping break down and make sure everything went smoothly. This was clearly not a requirement for him, he just did it out of the kindness of his heart. The following day, he reached out saying how much fun it was working our wedding and included some candid photos he took throughout the day. We talked about how amazing the day was and how thankful we were to have met each other, and how we will all stay friends moving forward. This type of person doesn’t come along too often, these days. Someone who listens to your needs, works hard, cares with their whole heart, and truly is passionate about what they do. That is exactly who Nicholas is.

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that our wedding day would not have been the same without Nicholas. If you are shopping for a DJ, please stop here. You would be lucky to have Nicholas be involved with your day!

What a blast! Where do we begin? First and simply, we could not recommend Nicholas and his company, Impressions, enough. If you need a DJ for a wedding or other important celebration, Nicholas is the finest choice. We would absolutely choose him again to help celebrate our wedding cocktail hour and reception (or any future event) because he helped it be, hands down, the best party of our lives!  

The backstory: our family member’s wedding was upended by COVID. Nicholas generously made it so easy for these family members to transfer their booking with him to us, something we greatly appreciated.  

From the get-go, Nicholas took the time to get to know us as a couple. He is modern and tech-savvy and is wicked fast at responding to emails. He easily joined us over Facetime/Zoom to discuss our music tastes, the events and games we wanted to include and more (i.e., photobooth, lighting, set up). We had to undertake most of our wedding planning from out of California, but that was no problem for Nicholas. 

Onto the party and aspects of DJ’ing: here is what we especially loved. We LOVED the system Nicholas used to get an idea of our And our guests’ musical tastes. We got to easily customize what and when specific music played (e.g., play “Send me on my way” for the sendoff or “Happy Birthday” for two of our guests after we cut our cake). We got to select many of the songs we wanted to hear at our reception, ranking them on a simple three-tier system, but we didn’t have to choose them all. With just a handful of our selections, Nicholas reached out and said it was plenty for him to expand on. With his system, we got to describe what music we wanted for certain parts of the night (e.g., dinner time = big band, oldies, Sinatra etc.). Guests also enjoyed making song recommendations through a guest portal on Nicholas’ system. Many song choices were available and those that were not were easily tracked down by Nicholas. 

We want to turn now to Nicholas’ character. He is kind, generous, client-oriented, sociable, enthusiastic, and a very hard worker. We undertake this testimony seriously because we really want him to succeed and believe he deserves to for all the above reasons. He improvises well, which is needed at any wedding, since things never go exactly as planned. You positively want someone who is flexible, creative, and FUN to be DJ’ing your big event. 

Nicholas helped make our wedding celebration special and memorable for us and our guests. Through Nicholas, we had the best party of our lives and got a good friend who we will count on for future events.

We couldn’t have been happier with our experience working with Nicholas. From the very first time talking to him, we could tell how passionate he was about his work. His confident and flexible nature, along with a happy-go-lucky personality, inspired us to trust him in putting together the perfect ceremony and reception for our wedding day. And boy, did he deliver!

First, we were provided our own personal page on his website where we could choose every songs we wanted to be played. Whether it was the bridal party introduction song, first dance song, or songs for dancing in general, this website and related software made it incredibly easy to put together the music for our wedding day. We were also able to make special adjustments to the songs we chose and write any notes next to the songs we want played, which was a nice way to personalize our reception even more. 

Nicholas was excellent at providing a steady stream of dialogue throughout the planning of our wedding. He was almost always available to call, email or even text, which was especially helpful since we could easily get answers to small detail questions we had. He was more than happy to give us advice on live ceremony music options, reception accessories (glow sticks, party favors, etc.), as well as wedding day timeline suggestions. Communication was so important to us, and we can confidently say this is definitely one of Nicholas’ strongest attributes.

The photo booth was an absolute hit! The props that were provided were more than we could have ever hoped for. People had such a great time with the photo booth, and it was amazing to have BOTH Nicholas AND the photo booth come in a two-in-one package.

On our wedding day, Nicholas showed up early, despite a long drive from San Diego to Camarillo, and set up the microphone and speaker system for our wedding ceremony. The lighting he provided for our reception ballroom was perfect, and proved to be exactly the ambiance we were looking for. He was outstanding at organizing our bridal party before the Grand Entrance, and giving everyone pointers on what to do when they enter in. We loved his strategy at getting everyone to quiet down so he can make announcements throughout the night. Of course, his energy and “MC voice” was fantastic, and it was obvious he is a natural at doing this. He was great at staying on schedule, but was flexible when necessary. The music itself was amazing, and even though we chose all the songs we wanted played during dinner and dancing, Nicholas put the songs we chose in a logical order that made sense. He even threw in some of his own remixes, which was an unexpected and delightful change of pace. 

Lastly, and most importantly, Nicholas’ sole focus was on making the perfect day for us. We were the only ones who mattered to him throughout the wedding process, and he made it known that whatever we wanted, he could make happen. This culminated beautifully at our wedding when, after certain songs or when he saw us dancing together, he would give a small announcement asking our guests to give us a round of applause. We appreciated this so much! It says a lot about Nicholas and his commitment to making our wedding the most special day for us, which easily was his best quality. We can’t recommend him enough!

My wife and I met Nicholas at the San Diego Wedding Party Expo in San Diego in 2017 while searching for wedding vendors. We met 2-3 DJ’s at the wedding exposition but my wife and I didn't really have a connection with the DJ's, or their energy and music selections. However, while viewing the fashion show we were lucky enough to stumble upon Nicholas’ live performance. My wife and I were both impressed by Nicholas’ music selections and smooth transitions during the entire fashion show. We definitely felt the vibes with his performance so we decided to approach him once the fashion show was over. Nicholas was very warm and eager to help us when we complimented him and told him we were interested in possibly working with him. He took the time to meet with us shortly after the wedding expo. We really connected with him because we could sense his genuine desire and passion for wanting to be a part of such an important event in our both lives. Also, we moved forward with his photo booth services because it was great that he offers multiple services instead of going with multiple vendors. He gave us access to some great online software that allowed us to be able to pre-select our music choices for (First dance, Father/Daughter, Mother/Son dances, etc.). The software is very user friendly and allowed us to easily make an entire playlist for our wedding. Nicholas was kind enough to meet with us a couple of times before the wedding to make sure every single detail of our timeline was executed perfectly. The day of the wedding went very smooth with Nicholas because he had an entire timeline of all the critical music choices and event details already ready to go. We really appreciated his high energy and very organized timing skills with ensuring our entire bridal party had a great time. Also our guests appreciated the variety of events (Shoe game) and combinations with the music.

Overall we were extremely happy with how much attention to detail was taken, his true desire to make us happy, and our guests to feel the love. We highly recommend Nicholas and will be continuing to work with him on future events!

"I would highly recommend Nicholas Witzler as a superb DJ, MC and event organizer.  Nine months before my wedding date, I started a search for the best DJ that I could find through interviews, references, reviews and attending Bridal Bizaars.   A few weeks after the wedding, I'm looking back and realizing that my choice of Nicholas did not disappoint. 

The planning process began six months before the wedding. He made himself very available to meet us in person multiple times to discuss many details about what we wanted from the wedding. He was able to walk us through the entire process and we learned so much from his vast knowledge and experience. During the actual ceremony, Nicholas was a master at keeping the momentum and energy going.  Then starting with the cocktail hour at 4pm until the very last song of the night, Nicholas kept the guests engaged the entire time through overall professionalism, careful timing of song choices and well planned festivities such as the "Anniversary Dance".   In addition, Nicholas was very adaptable to every random occurrence. For instance, when one of my more gregarious friends decided to take center stage and sing along to Bruno Mars while everyone else was seated, Nicholas was able to prevent an awkward moment by getting the guests to clap along.   When it was over, he congratulated my friend and resumed the event, turning a pending disaster into a memorable and humorous event. Our event started as a somewhat formal affair but gradually became an all out party by the end of the night.  After the last song, the guests wanted more! It is exactly what we had wanted and loved seeing everyone having such a great time.
